The half-day virtual meeting took place on 17th of September, bringing together leaders of all work packages, partners, EC officer and external experts, a total of 22 participants, to showcase developments to date and outline the path forward.
The review featured presentations on the latest advances in combination vaccine strategies, namely:
Presentation of the latest advances in the combination vaccine strategies
Preliminary findings from the development of innovative tools
Status update on whole sporozoite and mRNA vaccine candidates in development
Review of communication, dissemination, and outreach plans to ensure impact beyond the project lifetime.
External reviewers commended the consortium’s strong interdisciplinary approach and innovative use of AI tools, while providing constructive suggestions to enhance the work ahead. In particular, they recommended increasing outreach in endemic countries.
Encouraged by the positive reception, CAPTIVATE partners will now focus on implementing the review’s feedback, intensifying efforts to conduct stakeholder engagement and social sciences efforts, refining combination vaccine constructs, and preparing for the next stages of development. Strategic dissemination will continue to be a priority, ensuring findings reach the scientific community, public health partners, general public and policymakers.
